Superintendent

Main mandate

The Superintendent of Construction plays a critical role in supervising and coordinating activities on the construction site. Responsible for ensuring that deadlines, quality standards and safety are met, the superintendent is the guarantor of the smooth running of the company’s construction projects.

Your challenges

Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop detailed work plans and implementation plans.
  • Effectively coordinate field teams to ensure smooth work execution.
  Field Supervision:
  • Monitor the progress of work on site daily.
  • Ensure that project quality standards and specifications are met.
  Resource Management:
  • Allocate available human, material and financial resources efficiently.
  • Ensure constant communication with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Manage equipment requirements.
  Site mobilization:
  • Manage the workforce requirements of the construction sites and hire workers.
  • Identify, in collaboration with the foreman, training needs of site personnel.
  Safety on the Construction Site:
  • Ensure that all activities comply with applicable safety standards.
  • Implement safety measures and train staff in appropriate procedures.
  Reports and Documentation:
  • Prepare regular progress reports on the project for management.
  • Document problems, solutions and changes to the project.
  Time Management:
  • Monitor project schedule closely and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential delays.
  Communication with stakeholders:
  • Collaborate with engineers, customers and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates on the progress of the project.
  Quality Control:
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality of work.

Qualifications

  • Degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
  • Significant experience in managing construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes and construction standards.
  • Good knowledge of CCQ conventions.
  • Passion for health and safety at work.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  Technical skills
  • Ability to analyze project details, identify key variables and anticipate potential risks;
  • Proficiency in project management software and computer design tools;
  • Knowledge of the HeavyJob software is an asset.
  Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with various stakeholders;
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines;

Working conditions

  • Position type: Full-time permanent
  • Work Location: Construction site – Fermont
  • Schedule: Fly in / Fly out – rotation to be discussed
